[RWD] Carbon Based Lifeforms – Neurotransmitter

2003 | Ultimae Records

2015 | Leftfield Records

The ReWind series exists as merely an aid in the discovery (or rather, rediscovery) of the unintentionally forgotten, or the often overlooked tracks of yesteryear.

When this series first started, I wasn’t sure what’ll come out of it. I had no idea it would in fact, 2 (plus) years later, reach the 100 post milestone. The recommendation you’ll interact with below is a digital cake of sorts to celebrate this achievement.

Before we go on, I’d like to extend a big thank you to Åsa over at Everyday Detour for introducing me to Carbon Based Lifeforms. It has made me appreciate the subtle aspects of music even more than I had before. Also, a big thank you to Ian from Ian Burgess Photograpy and Tom D for sounding off in the comments and offering a variety of suggestions. Now, the track I promised. 🙂

Some may wonder why I chose this particular track off of CBL‘s debut artist album Hydroponic Garden. Well, since music triggers a cascade of chemical reactions, I thought Neurotransmitter was an apt choice as far as the hundredth post was concerned.

The atmosphere CBL manages to create in their tracks is worthy of pause sometimes. Behind its initial appearance of simplicity, lies a patiently crafted auditory experience that leaves a mark. Injected into it all, the steady presence of the 303 guides Neurotransmitter at a leisurely pace towards its resolution. I will leave it to you to discover the intricacies of this particular track for yourselves.

I’d like to thank all of you for the support you’ve shown for this series across its first 100 “episodes”. Rest assured though, ReWind isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Until next time, I’ll leave you in the company of Carbon Based Lifeforms‘ exquisite Neurotransmitter:
