The ReWind series exists as merely an aid in the discovery (or rather, rediscovery) of the unintentionally forgotten, or the often overlooked tracks of yesteryear.
In doing this series, I’ve stumbled upon genre classics, listener favourites and all round great tracks. Featuring newer and older ones alike, this series has been fueled mainly by the wish to share these great tracks with like minded people. For this week, I’ve chosen to highlight a production that has been in heavy rotation recently for me.
With the speed at which tracks are getting released, it’s very easy to just get distracted by the newest and shiniest of them, unintentionally forgetting about the older gems that might at times sit in a digital corner, gathering dust. As such, I’ve decided to bring back to the fore one of 2013’s biggest tracks in my view, Magnus’ Thread Ender.
With its blend of psy and progressive, the track showcases Mike’s production prowess in a piece is still as fresh as it was when it first came out of the studio. Thanks to its addicting base rhythms, carefully chosen kicks and smooth melodic tones, it creates a lasting impression, hence my decision to revisit it. I’ve heard tracks that were enjoyable at their core, but seemed off because of the quality of execution. It’s not the case here, as the listener gets a 9 minute musical treat that simply oozes quality.
For those who are familiar with this one, and newcomers alike, here’s Thread Ender, in all its glory. See you next week. 🙂
