I generally have a bunch of labels I’m pretty much guaranteed to find good content at, and John O’Callaghan’s Subculture is one of them. If you’re not convinced, let’s have a look see at the upcoming single from The Noble Six, which might change your opinion.
I’m not sure if it’s the taste changing or just getting used to it, but uplifters these days don’t ‘grab’ me as much as they used to. Then again, there’s stuff like Undimmed which succeeds in capturing my attention for a very simple reason: it’s pretty unique. It’s not the kicks, not the baseline, heck, not even the vocal chops that sell this, but rather the immensely satisfying lead and guitar melody which propel the track towards a HUGE melodic climax like I have not heard in a long time. Beyond any shadow of doubt, a stunning representation of all that is great about uplifting trance.
Want to grab it? What, now? You’ll have to hold on a little longer, since it’ll hit Beatport this Monday, the 22nd, with a general release two weeks after. Have a listen to the sample below and hear for yourself just how awesome this damn thing sounds:
