The folks at Monster HQ roll on their latest Pure offering, this time coming from UK producer Russell G. To find out exactly what’s what with his latest single, let’s put it under the microscope a little, shall we?
As much as I like those upper range of bpm tech trancers, one’s got to take it easier from time to time. While chillout is a nice choice, there’s a happy middle ground in the form of progressive trance.
Sacred is in many ways a modern interpretation of ye olde prog trance sound from the beginning of the 2000s. Not too loud or aggressive, it manages to reel the listener in with its punchy baseline and enjoyable melody, steering the conversation towards the break. With the main melody slowly coming to the fore, you can kick back and let it pour out of the speakers. For a final twist of uniqueness, Russell adds some breaks influence and finishes off with a delightfully melodic climax. I like this one a fair bit, and hope you folks will too.
Russell G‘s Sacred will be released exclusively on a Beatport near you this Monday, May 25th. A fortnight later, you’ll be able to pick up from the other digital download stores you may fancy more. Until then, here’s a sample:
