The ReWind series exists as merely an aid in the discovery (or rather, rediscovery) of the unintentionally forgotten, or the often overlooked tracks of yesteryear.
Alright, alright, this is not quite an ‘old’ track, but it does fall into the overlooked tracks category. For the second time in the series, I’m going to feature something that’s a little newer than the usual material, something that has flown a little under my radar, but still deserves to be shared.
I’ve seen a fair number of people praise the production credentials of Estonian producer Cosmithex, so I thought it’d be best to look into his back catalogue. What I found was very enjoyable, so sharing one of his tracks with you people was a no brainer. At the end of the day, that’s what the site is about: exposing tracks that might get lost in the ludicrously high number of releases each week. All that is done via (somewhat) daily posts, something I’m sure you’ve become accustomed to.
While the Enigma EP includes 3 remixes, I’m going to focus on the original, since it is by far and away my favourite version. Though not unique to the genre itself, trance does have a considerably varied sound arsenal, making for a nice soundtrack whenever you want to get a shot of energy or, to the contrary, relax. That of course depends on whether you’re looking at the progressive or hard / tech end of the spectrum. Enigma falls into the former category.
I know it’s a vague term, but the overall flow of the track is superb, as the kicks and moody pads blend with subtly swelling acids to create one of the most relaxing listening experiences I’ve had so far. As someone who is more than content with letting a production unfold from start to finish (I know, weird), I cannot emphasize enough how good this is. What I want most of all is for you to not believe a word I’ve said above and just listen for yourself.
See you next week. 🙂
