Thomas Datt – Prana Flow

Thomas Datt - Prana Flow

Thomas Datt – Prana Flow

There’s that saying ‘good things come to those who wait’, and whether or not you agree, it definitely fits this particular track. After months of replaying the break sample and wondering what it was, we’re finally treated to the full version of Thomas Datt‘s newest single, which found a home under Damaged Records. Let’s take a closer look.

Dubbed Prana Flow, this has been on my radar ever since it first popped up as a little Soundcloud teaser of sorts.  The short sample hid behind ‘ID’ for the longest time, but recently came out of hiding, after Thomas revealed the name. How’s the final thing, you ask? Read below.

The kicks and base immediately gave it away as a Datt track, prepping the terrain for the surprise to follow. Being familiar with the break from before, one would think the impact would be slightly diminished, but no. The pads and the filtering on the lead are frankly even better than I had remembered, and being able to hear the track finally unfold made for one of the most fun listening experiences in recent memory. I don’t give out scores (because that would needlessly complicate my life), but if I did, Prana Flow would get a perfect 10.

I think some might be puzzled by the choice of title and artwork and wonder what’s the link. Wonder no more, because prana in Sanskrit means something along the lines of ‘life force’, an energy that flows in and around the body. Keep in mind we’re also talking about electronic music here, hence the mechanical heart. Pretty neat choice, no?😀

Prana Flow is out Monday, February 23rd landing in Damaged Records‘ 23rd spot. What’s even more interesting is that the release coincides with Thomas’ birthday (happy birthday, man!). How’s that for some nifty synchronization?

Until then, have a listen to it below.😀
