Next up on Perfecto Fluoro, Johan Ekman‘s breathtaking debut on the imprint.
After the Discover family of labels and Mental Asylum Records, Johan turns his attention towards Fluoro, with the hard edged tech trancer that is Exhale.
Full to the brim with corrosive 303 action and really heavy baselines, the original thunders its way through the tech and breakbeat sections with ease. The track’s build is seamless, imperceptibly picking up the speed and, just as you’re catching your breath, releasing the avalanche of sound that marks its anthem point. Absolutely flawless.
On remix duties there’s the man at Fluoro‘s helm, John Askew.
John’s refusal to accept any sort of “cheesy melodies and predictable clichés” has carried over from his Discover days, and is obvious in his reinterpretation of Exhale. With more prominent acids and a significantly more emphasized breakbeat section, his remix keeps the best bits of the original, but adds that last piece of the puzzle to really take this release over the top. Although it was not an easy choice to make, I’ll go with John’s version on this one.
The wait is nearly over, as the EP is headed for an October 13th Beatport release. Headphones at the ready. And Exhale:
