The ReWind series exists as merely an aid in the discovery (or rather, rediscovery) of the unintentionally forgotten, or the often overlooked tracks of yesteryear.
With a career stretching back 15 years, trance legend Steve Helstrip needs no introduction. His debut single still remains a favourite after all these years, but there are plenty more great tracks to pick from his extensive back catalogue.
Released in 2002 under Incentive, Getting Away With It (Don’t Be Afraid) was signed En-Motion, another of Steve’s aliases. The track came in two versions, a Thrillseekers Vocal and Thrillseekers Instrumental mix, both brilliant. Being a big fan of the older sounds (and the particular Nord Lead presence in this one), I chose the instrumental over the vocal.
The vox-less version features a really present base line, which complements the melody nicely. The stand out bit though, has got to be the break-beat part, which is seldom heard in today’s uplifters or prog-trancers.
I’ll let the music take over from here.
