[RWD] Oberon – Everything and More (Saga Remix)

2012 | Recover Records

2012 | Recover Records

The ReWind series exists as merely an aid in the discovery (or rather, rediscovery) of the unintentionally forgotten, or the often overlooked tracks of yesteryear.

A couple of years back, when I was still getting to grips with this whole song recommending thing, I missed this release from Recover Records. No matter, better late than never.

With a career spanning more than 20 years, residences at clubs such as Antiworld, Pendragon and Magic, and an extensive back catalogue of singles and remixes, Discover Dark head honcho Les ‘Oberon’ Spalding requires no introduction.

Back in 2012, he released Everything and More under Recover Records, a track that swayed the needle strongly into hard trance territory, with highly present kicks, acid riffs and melodies. A true showcase of the more underground side of trance, coming from one of the pioneers of the genre.

Also included was a remix from Nick Sagar aka Saga. His psy reshuffle of the original ups the bpm slightly, making good use of vocal chops, pulsating baselines and filter sweeps to deliver that quintessentially underground sound that’s very sought after by some of trance’s oldest fans. Even though it wasn’t an easy decision, I picked the remix over Les’ original. A sample awaits below.

Country: UK / Style: Psy-Trance / Year: 2012 / Label; Recover Records*
