We’re ending Chill Week on an appropriately laid back note.
I’m sure you’re familiar with Superstylin‘, from well-known British electronica duo Groove Armada. Its interesting blend of UK garage, reggae and house earned it the number 12 spot in the UK singles chart in 2001. For today’s feature, we’re staying within the boundaries of the duo’s third studio album, Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub).
I could have chosen any one of the singles on the album, but being the picky bastard that I am, I went straight for the bonus track included on the limited edition.
Likwid is an easy-going, smoothly organised track, with strong base guitar riffs, claps and the odd sound effect to add to the overall atmosphere. It’s perfect for a late night cruise, or just a chill session with a refreshing beverage by your side. Despite being rather simple in nature, it quickly becomes addictive, having gotten numerous replays from me in the last couple of days.
Since sharing is caring (or so they say), I thought this would be a nice way to end our week-long experiment. Here’s the sample:
Country: UK / Style: Downtempo / Year: 2001* / Label: Zomba
*Part of the Goodbye Country (Hello Nighclub) album.
