This week’s ReWind track doesn’t quite fit within the guidelines of previous posts, in the sense that it’s not a ‘track of yesteryear’, but merely one I’ve wanted to feature, and never quite had the chance. Here goes nothing.
Since January, every single Friday has been dedicated to ReWind, our weekly lookback series. Because this post is also part of Chill Week, I’ve made a couple of adjustments to the format.
Following a string of high quality solo releases, Jethimself and Barzek join forces yet again, for their first chillout outing on Silk Sofa.
Consisting of three stunningly smooth productions, the Erhu EP dials the knob way down, with light piano melodies, subtle percussion and disparate synth interventions. It’s nice to have a choice, but it’s pretty tough to pick just one. There’s a lot to like about each individual track, be it the mysterious atmosphere of the title track, the subtle guitar accents in Drifting Out, or the fantastically soothing piano melody in Dewdrops.
Despite having chosen to feature just one of the three, I’d suggest you check all of them out. You’ll most likely end up making good use of that replay button.
The EP is out now on Beatport for everybody to buy and enjoy. Here’s a taste of what’s inside:
Country: Russia | USA / Style: Downtempo / Year: 2014 / Label: Silk Sofa*
