Indecent Noise – Witch Hunt (Second Sine Remix)

The Darker The Better EP

The Darker The Better EP

Things at the Asylum are about to get dark. The Darker, The Better. Oddly enough, that’s also the name of the latest release.

Coming from none other than label head Indecent Noise, this extended play explores the much harder side of Alexander’s style.Whether you go with the title track, or the original of Witch Hunt, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. The tech side in tech trance gets a much more prominent role in these two productions, especially in The Darker The Better.

Witch Hunt, while retaining some of the melodic aspects of trance, twists and turns going through tech trance, breaks and even some psy influences here and there. It’s not exactly my cup of tea, but there’s one thing I will say: if unique is what you’re looking for, this one might just be right up your alley.

Last, but most certainly not least, Witch Hunt gets the Second Sine treatment, who steers it in a more traditional (so to speak) direction. The melody gets a much bigger role and the overall structure gets tweaked to bring it more inline with tech trance. This was noticeable in the original, but it’s even more so in the remix: the melody is reminiscent of Oliver Lieb‘s remix of Ambassador – The Fade. If you knew that riff sounded familiar, but weren’t quite able to pin point its exact source, you’re welcome.

All in all, another crazy EP from the folks at the Asylum. Headed for a July 28th Beatport exclusive release.

Out on Beatport: July 28th

Country: Poland / Style: Tech Trance / Year: 2014 / Label: Mental Asylum*
