Fun fact : Vând Sunete turns 3 today.
Over the years, the theme has been changed dozens of times and, as a matter of fact, so has the logo. Some changes were iterative, while others were quite dramatic. Nonetheless, it’s time to look back at some of the highlights of those 3 years.
The original logo was created by Sarrco Sparrco.
It all started back in January of 2011, when an enterprising, yet a bit bored dude (you might remember him), decided to start a blog which had the sole purpose of showcasing whatever song he happened to want to share. Things went really well for about a month, at which point I showed up (Hi!).
A post here, a post there, and the blog started gaining traction. He was focused on whatever the hot new Romanian song was, along with some other tracks he happened to really like. I was just starting to decipher what all this “trance” business was all about so, naturally, I was solely focused on the genre.
Fastforward a couple of months, and we were in the midst of transitioning from this very WordPress blog to a self hosted one.
Of course, as proud owners of a .com, we had to pretty much start over. As such, we wanted to stand out and so the logo you see above was created.
The team grew, as another writer joined us. Just like last time, things were off to a good start. The posts were coming in, the traffic was decent and all was well. That didn’t last though.
About a month in, we started having problems with the host. At some point, we decided enough was enough and returned triumphantly to this blog. Indeed, seeking a new host provider would have been a good choice, but none of us three really had the time to do it.
Upon returning, we created a post in which we provided links to all of the tracks we had recommended during our stay on the .com. You can find it here.
As we celebrated one year of existence, we thought it’d be nice to also (again) change the logo.
About halfway through the year, the founder decided to focus on some of his other projects, so that pretty much left me in charge. But that’s quite alright, I don’t mind it. 😀
In December, I decided to start offering the posts in both Romanian and English. This period of transition lasted for about 5 months, an amount of time I thought was enough for the readers to adjust.
Last year was pretty big for Vând Sunete. We gained quite a few blog followers, focused more on the trance classics and changed our logo once again. Yes, for the 3rd time (but not final), the site got a somewhat fresh looking logo, which borrowed some elements from one of the earlier ones (namely, the first one).
As I’ve said, 2013 was big on classics, which is why the themed week-long recommendation series saw a comeback. 7 days of nothing but classic trance vibes. In case you missed it, the original post and days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. 😀
In 2013 the post format changed slightly, as I stopped offering the posts in both Romanian and English, choosing to focus, as can be seen, only on the latter.
Since we are celebrating this pretty big milestone, I decided it was the right time to finally give this site an identity of its own, in order for it to really stand out. Scroll down to see the changes.
But I couldn’t change just the theme. As has become tradition, I’ve also tinkered with the logo, and what you see below is the result :
You thought that was all, didn’t you? Oh, no.
From now on, the classics and maybe even some tracks I might have overlooked, will all be stored in this category. The name is pretty self-explanatory, and you can expect the first post of this type to show up tomorrow.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for reading and following the site. If you haven’t already, use the widget in the sidebar to subscribe, or give us a follow on Twitter, Facebook, Google +, and check out all of the previous recommendations via the handy dandy playlists from our Youtube channel.
In its current state, the site is still a little rough around the edges, but it should all be sorted in the next couple of days. What do you think of the new design? 😀
